For example, a slayer master might have Abyssal Demons at a weight of 10, Iron Dragons at a weight of 7, and Kurasks at a weight of 8. This would mean there’s a higher probability of receiving Abyssal Demons from this particular slayer master. It’s also worth noting that any locked tasks must first be unlocked before they can be assigned a task weight.
Why Does Task Weight Matter?
Task Weight is important because there are a variety of slayer masters who all have different weight lists. This means that some masters have a higher probability to assign certain monsters than others, which can affect your strategies. For example, Steve might offer Steel dragons at a weight of 7, while Duradel might offer them at a weight of 6. So if you were looking to hunt Steel Dragons, you would have a better chance by trying a task from Steve. This becomes important in OSRS, especially for ironmen. Because if you’re hunting specific drops then you’ll want to get whatever task you’re after as quickly and consistently as possible. Task Weight doesn’t really play a role in certain slayer tasks such Hydras, Crocodiles, Chaos Druids, Cave Bugs, or with other monsters, because only certain slayer masters can assign these particular tasks.
